Holy Island of Lindesfarne

We stopped at the Holy Island of Lindesfarne, where there was an important monastery in the 500 and 600s.  It was home to St. Cuthbert and where a famous manuscript called the "Lindesfarne Gospel" was produced.  It was then attacked by the Vikings.

The Island itself is reachable only during certain times of the day as it is reached by means of a causeway that is unsafe during high tide.
